Yarkovsky Effect included in the SRP?

Postby smdrake » Wed Jun 01, 2011 7:36 pm

Hello,

I have been researching the Yarkovsky effects for an asteroid we are monitoring and was wondering if GMAT had those accounted for in the SRP? I searched through the wiki site, tables and manual but could not find any information on the matter. Does anyone know if the Yarkovsky effects are included?

I don't believe that GMAT's SRP model includes Yarkovsky effects. You may want to consult the GMAT Mathematical Specification, located at:

<GMAT>\docs\GMATMathSpec.pdf

where <GMAT> is your GMAT installation directory.

From looking at section 5.2.4, the equation for acceleration seems to be the same one from Vallado, which makes no mention of Yarkovsky.

This is a good question though, I'll record it as an idea for future development.

Are you able to see our public bug tracker? If so, I've recorded this is a potential enhancement here:
