Which file(s) contain the equations of motion?

Postby pat_celine » Mon Mar 31, 2014 2:03 pm

Hi,
I am trying to build my own celestial body propagator in the context of asteroid deflection missions so I wanted to take a look at the equations of motion that are used in GMAT in order to compare them to mine. Where would I find these equations? I was looking in the "math" folder but it is to big and I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

Thanks a lot for your help,
Patricia

The equations of motion are sort of complex in the GMAT code, as they are assembled from a complex force model. I think you'll have better luck looking at:

  • "forcemodel" source folder (esp. ODEModel.*pp files)
  • the Architectural Spec, located in the docs folder of the GMAT distribution

Actually, a better bet might be to look at the GMAT Math Spec: http://gmat.sourceforge.net/docs/

Look at Chapter 4.
