Atmospheric Model / Drag

Hey there everybody,

I am currently trying to include atmospheric drag into a cowell based propagator for a research project here at Embry-Riddle Florida.

I was wondering how it is that I can access the source code to: 1. the atmospheric models available in GMAT, 2.) where the actual drag is solved for 3.) Drag applied into the propagator.

I'd like to use it as a guide to develop my own model.

I appreciate the help.

All of our public code is located on our SourceForge page: http://sourceforge.net/p/gmat/code/HEAD/tree/trunk/.

For atmosphere models, check out these files:
  • src/base/forcemodel/DragForce.*
  • src/base/solarsys/AtmosphereModel.*
  • src/base/solarsys/Msise90Atmosphere.* (or JacchiaRobertsAtmosphere.* or ExponentialAtmosphere.*)

Does GMAT support charge drag models (Coulomb force) or is that something I would need to implement on my own?

GMAT does not currently support a coulomb force model. You would need to implement that.

I think the atmospheric model is a mathematical model constructed around the full set of primitive dynamical equations which govern atmospheric motions. I have read an article in best assignment writing services stating "it forecasts are computed using mathematical equations for the physics and dynamics of atmosphere.
